Neighborhood Safety
Please remember that our community, as a whole, is only as safe as any portion of it may be. What I am getting at here is a reminder for all of us to be alert to activity in our neighborhoods, especially the homes of our seasonal neighbors. Try to ensure that someone has a way to contact those who are away for any period of time and notify them immediately if any unusual activity is noted. If you can't contact them on the first call, don't wait.... call the Sheriff's Department and let them check it out. It would be much better for the Deputy who responds to determine that the owner was giving (or selling) that TV to a relative of theirs who lives in the area, than to find out later that the home had been burglarized. Be particularly aware of unfamiliar cars driving continually through the area, persons walking between or behind the houses or anything else that does not look "quite right". If everyone in your neighborhood watches out for everyone else, you can find comfort in the fact that someone will certainly be watching your home for you.
